George and Claire, I am so sorry to hear about your mother. She was such a wonderful lady, as you know. I always loved Christmas time when she and my mom got together to make candy. I still make the peanut brittle and cinnamon that they used to make even though I'm sure it's not as good as theirs! Love and prayers to you all!

Mary Lou was a great friend to me these past 20 years. We met while both of us were singing in the church choir. Our friendship truly began, though, when she began volunteering in the preschool classroom where I taught. The plight of some of my students touched her deeply, and she touched their lives as well. When I moved away in 2004, our friendship continued through many phone calls. I'm so glad my husband was able to meet her, and her husband J.D. She was a wonderfully caring person, and I count myself all the richer for having known her. My condolences go to her children, and grandchildren, whom she talked about a great deal and loved so much. She will be greatly missed.

George and Claire, your mom was a good friend, a good neighbor, a good car pool driver and special to all the Simmons family for three generations. She was kind to all in her company throughout her life. We all have a smile on our face having known Mary Lou.
