Condolence & Memory Journal

I just found out about Joe's passing. I was the Secretary at Public Safety from 1992 until 2000. He was a joy to work for - the best boss ever. He will be greatly missed.

It is always a sad day when you loose a friend, especially one you have known for 50 plus years. Joe and i were in the 1959 graduating class of New Concord, and played on the basketball team. Everyone who knew Joe knew of his Christian beliefs, by his words and actions. D. L. Moody said, " It is a great deal better to live a holy life than to talk about it. Light houses don't ring bells and fire cannon to call attention to their shining---they just shine. I am praying for God to comfort Joe's family.

Joe was one of the nicest persons you'd ever want to meet. I was fortunate that my tenure at Murray State overlapped with Joe's directing the MSU Security Office...just a wonderful person to work with. understanding, empathetic, and a true 'gentle giant' of a man. Although we miss him here on earth, that his is with his Lord and Savior and reunited with his parents and wonderful wife, Martha, is a true blessing. I am proud to say both were my friends and I am a better person because of them. Miss you both; will always love you both. Ken Carstens

Joe's integrity was always on display-I will always remember his kind manner, as a teenager, when he met my grandmother who had dementia.

Joe, was known all across campus as the friend to law and made us obey the Law in his friendly way. Everyone loved "Mean Joe Green" and all as run in the right way. In other words we all were treated the same and that was Law with Joe. RIP Joe with Love Marie Jones
